I’ve been on my path of sustainable living for so many years, and it’s such a way of life, that sometimes I forget what sparked me to adopt this lifestyle in the first place.
When I did my degree, a Bachelor of Science in Health and Environment, I remember getting overwhelmed by the issues of the world. There was so much attention on what was wrong, but not much focus on how to counteract it.
I remember clearly making a decision that I wanted to focus on solutions rather than problems and dedicate my life to that.
You see, energy flows where attention goes. I wanted to put my energy into creating a world where the Earth was loved and respected. It was important to me to get educated and try to find ways of living more harmoniously, that promoted the health of humans, animals and the environment. I feel like this is a lifetime journey, but every little bit helps.
I’m the sort of person who can’t pretend not knowing something once my eyes have been opened. Maybe I became aware via watching a documentary, having a conversation, reading a book, or channeling information direct.
But, I don’t feel like it’s my role to educate people on the problems. Don’t get me wrong I think it’s SUPER important to be aware and understand what’s going on in the world, but my mission is solution based and sharing that knowledge.
So, I’m introducing the ‘Why Give a Shit’ series. I will be sharing other people’s educational material when I find it via the ‘Why Give a Shit Facebook Page‘. This page serves as a reminder on why we’d care about taking responsibility for our actions and making small changes in our own lives to lessen the environmental issues currently facing the planet.
Not only does it help to educate the masses, but it’s also a reminder for me, to remember why I’m doing what I am.
After all, sharing is caring!
